When I went to Canada from LA, one of the airlines staff did not even know that he has to take the I-94 out. And when I told him that he must take the I-94 then he called another airlines staff. He seemed to be aware of I-94 stuffs. I wonder if my I-94 card went to correct customs/immigration file.
I wonder why can't US immigration stamp on the passport when we leave the country. How can we trust an airlines staff? How do we know the airlines and it's staff are trained properly on immigration/I-94 process.

My PD was not current in June07, company attorney applied for 3 year extension along with approved I-140. Receipt Date for H1B extension application was June 14th 2007 and H1B was approved on July27th 2007 for one year only. As per FAQ# 2(Q 17), I was eligible for 3 year extension, Can we ask for ammendment in H1B extension. If yes, what is the process for requesting ammendment and what document do we need to file. Any idea how much time it is going to take, is it going to take same time as H1B extension timeline. All your views and answers are welcome.

Under Section 104(c) of AC 21 Act, those who have an approved I-140 petition or pending EB-485 application with the approved I-140 petition are eligible for the H-1B extension in three-year increment, if they cannot file EB-485 or EB-485 is pending but cannot be adjudicated because of the visa number unavailability for him/her. Krishmunn, thanks for your reply. I understand that I have to apply labor and I140 again. But my question was how do I port the priority date when I do not have the approved copy of my I140 with me. What if the old employer cancels my i140?
All I have is the old i140 receipt and the receipt number online shows approved status.

I searched all over web for BEC to PERM conversion denials, I could not find even single references on NRIWEB OR immigrationportal.com, and I know it could take more time than expected but have not heard of any denied cases so far, please share your source of info....

Did you get second finger print notice before approval? When did you go for first fingerprint notice?
After a long 5 years I finally received 485 case approved letter for both my case and my spouse's case. However the online status still shows pending. Is this common?. How long would it take for the online case status to be updated.

Thanks for the tip. The other thing i need it for is for picture on the layout wich would mean i need it focused from about a foot to infinity. Unfortunatly all this stuff really does push th limmits of all non-professional grade cameras.
I did a search and came up with the Sunpak Pro 065. a .65x wide angle. Is this company reliable? and when using a wide angle will the fisheye affect be more pronounced?
Your experiencing an effect called Depth of Field(DOF). This is commen and usally you want to minimize it for effect but not in your case.
You will need to learn to use a DOF calculator, there is one on this site but it does not include the 2/3" sensor sive you camera has. A better one for you right now may be this calculator here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp5700/page2.asp
Using this you can determine the distance you need, focal length and distance to subject to obtain the desired DOF. Currently on the wide end of your camera, you'll need to move about a 1.5 feet from the focus point with f8 to get the DOF you desire. I went to Chennai and Hyderabad thru Dubai in last 2 years. I felt it was really nice. No transit visa stuff. Good veggie food, lot of entertainment and good service. A bit costly compared to other airlines. On overall good experience and no regrets for higher price

Both Shaktisagar and Greyhair make very valid points. Which side wins the argument well only time will tell. Nothing works the way it ideally should. The world is evolving and this recession and all this policies are all part of the evolution. People have started rethinking the value of having money versus true peace/hapiness slowly. In the US the disparity was partly hidden by the "plastic". Everybody was given a plastic and everybody could buy and live the "dream". Well that has just about ended to some extent. The problem is that, it is just about begining in Indian/china/brazil and russia.
What brings real peace/hapiness? Once 3rd world citizens (like Indians) get over the issue of "am I better than my neighbour?" India will progress towards its real goal very fast. The real goal being true peace and hapiness rather than the pseudo/fancy/fantasy/unreal/materialistic world that is propagated by the media.
If only we all had easy access to our inner ability for tremendous patience to tide over this process of evolution.......But it lies beyond our reach while we lie rolling in the misery created by our thoughts and desires.........

I am a first timer posting in this fantastic forum.
I am in a very confusing situation wherein I need your help
EB2 priority date: April 2007
I 140 approved.
I 94 expired in August 2010
So, I applied for 7th year H-1B extension in February and I got a RFE with the query to prove that I am working at the client's place.
I submitted all the documents except for the client's letter. Yesterday, I got a denial mail for which I dont know the exact reason.
I am presuming its related to the client's letter.
My lawyer said that we can open a MTR within 30 days.
What are the options and todo list I have?
1. I have a very good rapport with the client and I can get the client's letter.
If I get it, how long will it take to approve my case?
2. I am still working. Is it legal if I work as long as the appication is being processed.
3. Once I get my EAD, will it matter if H-1B gets rejected?

I will tell you about some things that happened in my life so you can relate to it. I had this dream of settling in America. I had good job, good pay, nice family and generally a pleasant life.
After a few years, I liked the way of life and wanted it to continue forever. But I could not continue this unless I get this thing called greencard, which let me stay for as long as I wanted and work anywhere I wanted. In those days due to many reasons and problems it was very difficult to get one. But I was patient and kept waiting.
There were a group of people who wanted to get together and solve the problems so that the wait time is eliminated. They knew how to get a solution to my problems of getting the greencard sooner. But they needed help from everyone like me so that we could get solve our problems.
At one point, they wanted people like me to go to the capital and talk to different people who had the power to solve our problems. This would help them understand the issues faced by people like me and help address them.
But at that time, I had other things to do and knew that there are others who would chip in and work together and solve this problem.
But nothing changed.
There was no end in sight and eventually what was a pleasant life started turning bad due to various rules being enacted to push people like me away. They succeeded and I left America.
After I had to leave america, I came back to this country and had a decent life. But I still liked my life in america and I wanted to live there. But I could not achieve that dream.
When I thought about what went wrong, I realized that the reason is I did not see the opportunity that presented itself to me - To join others and work together to resolve my problems.
I thought someone else would do the work. Maybe others thought the same way too. So eventually there was not a huge crowd explaining our problems. So it was not seen as a serious issue and so nothing was addressed.
When I think back now, if I had seen the opportunity and united with others like me, I would have got what I wanted.
So realize this. Always look for opportunity. When it presents itself, grab it and use it and do what is necessary to reap the benefits. You will not regret it."

Following points are mentioned in the e-filing confirmation Receipts:
1) DO attached one copy of this Confirmation Receipts
2) DO keep the extra copy of confirmation receipt for your record.
3) DO NOT send a copy of your e- filing application
4) DO NOT include any applications or fee
5) DO NOT mail photos or copies of identification
I did NOT find any where like we need to send, passport copy, drive license copy, photo.
yes ..you don't have to send the photographs or DL copy. if you efile, you can send copy of 485 recpt copy but they don't ask that anywhere ..

I have been reading posts where suggestions of writing letters to various political figures have been raised and hopefully implemented. I have a suggestion too, please ignore if this has already been brought up and discussed.
As a popular saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. So, my suggestion is :
Send our pictures to these people (whoever they are - senator, congressmen etc.). We can include 2 pictures each- eg.- one picture when we initially came (5-10 years back, unmarried, younger looking, graduation picture, college campus etc.). Another picture can be a more recent one (with family, kids, in our office, professional attire, house, car etc.).
We can include a tagline behind each picture.
Now since digital photography has taken over hard copies, many of us would be lazy enough to go take prints and then send them to the senators. So, we can email our pictures to one person (or IV core) and they can hand over the package to the concerned authorities.
I know this is a very rough sketch of what is actually involved in making this happen, so please come up with suggestions/ ideas.
